The budget crisis in the parish was so extreme that one juror recommended that they suspend their salaries to keep the parish afloat. However, one studious, and apparently literate, member noted that juror salaries were mandated by the state constitution. Therefore, to amend them in any way would, of course, run afoul of the law.
